You can study English-taught Medicine in Italy since 2009, but IMAT took place in 2011 for the first time.

Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing draws up the IMAT test in conjunction with the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR).

The structure

IMAT is a 100-minute subject-specific admissions test that you can take in authorised centres worldwide. The test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions:
  • 4 for general knowledge
  • 5 for logical reasoning
  • 23 for biology
  • 15 for chemistry
  • 13 for maths and physics

For each question, you will have about a minute and a half to read, solve and mark your choice.
It is essential to become familiar with all the types of possible exercises so you can learn to solve them in the shortest possible time.

The score

The score (max 90 points) is calculated with:
  • + 1.5 points for each correct answer
  • – 0.4 points for each wrong answer
  • 0 points for each question not answered
